March 21, 2013 New Just Cuz
I made this video as a visual aid for a speech I gave on the history of dance in Broadway musicals. I’m pretty proud of it.

March 8, 2013 Crystal Bowersox at Joe’s Pub
I don’t usually record at concerts, choosing instead to actually BE in the moment, but by the time her encore rolled around I just needed a memento. It drives me absolutely insane to think that there are people out there with voices like this, yet the Grammy Awards are given to people like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry who can’t sing on pitch without auto-tune. It makes me RAGE.

March 6, 2013 Very Sad News :(
Just found out today that Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer with a prognosis of only three months. Having grown up with “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Rhoda” on Nick at Nite, I’ve been a MAJOR fan since I was seven years old and have always looked at the characters as though we were old friends. Ironically I just started reading Valerie’s memoir, “I, Rhoda” a few days ago and have been re-watching my Rhoda DVD’s over my morning coffee….. and then this news today.
It’s strange. I’ve never met Valerie Harper, she doesn’t even know I exist in this world, yet this news is affecting me as though I’ve known her my whole life. And I guess in a way, I have.

In all the years that American Idol has been on the air, I’ve only ever watched one season. The show never interested me much and most of the singers that have come off the show have annoyed me to no end. HOWEVER…. my ex (a huge Idol fan) forced me to watch Season 9 with him and I complied, fully determined to complain and whine and make the entire experience miserable for both us. To my surprise I almost IMMEDIATELY fell in love with one of the contestants, a girl with dreadlocks, a guitar, and an INCREDIBLE voice (I’m a sucker for a singer/songwriter chick). In no time at all I was planning my schedule around the airtime of Idol so that I could text in and vote for her. Now, years later, I’m finally going to get to see her perform. I’m so excited, I may pee.

February 23, 2013 Bring Me To Light…..
So, my last post was from October 17th…… This is not like me. But after four months of dealing with some personal overhauls in my life, I am beginning to drag my carcass out of the hole I’ve been living in. And what better way to jump start this fresh outlook than with a new video of Marin Mazzie singing. I’m so predictable. But seriously, when Marin tells you you can’t go back to before….. you believe her.
